Short biography:
He holds a degree in Economics (1975) and a PhD in Economics (1982) by the Lisbon School of Economics and Management of the Technical University of Lisbon. He is Professor and Scientific Coordinator of the Economic and Social History Office at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management of the Technical University of Lisbon. At ISEG, he was also Chairman of the Board of Directors (1988-1989), Scientific Council (2003-2005), Pedagogical Council (1989-1990), President of the Portuguese Association of Economic and Social History (1984-1994) and Portuguese Association of History of International Relations (1999-2011). He has been a member of the Board of Economists since 2002 and is a Visiting Professor of the Institute of Political Studies of the Portuguese Catholic University (IEP-UCP).
