Short biography:
Assistant Professor at ISEG, Universidade de Lisboa. Doctorate in Business Administration, Harvard Business School, Harvard University. MSc Management, MBA, and BSc Management at ISEG, Technical University of Lisbon. Sofia teaches managerial accounting and control and her research interests are incentives, performance measurement, management control systems, behavioral accounting and field experiments. Her doctorate thesis was distinguished with the Outstanding Management Accounting Section Dissertation Award American Accounting Association and her research has been published in leading academic journals such as The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research and Management Accounting Research. Sofia is a member of the Scientific Board of ENEAR - European Network of Experimental Accounting Research, member of the Executive Board of Grudis – Portuguese Network of Accounting Research, President of the Scientific Board for the Grudis Conferences, co-organizer of the Grudis Workshops, co-organizer of the Lisbon Accounting Seminars, and member of the Editoral Board of Management Accounting Frontiers. Sofia is an ad hoc reviewer for international journals such as Management Accounting Research and Journal of Management Accounting Research, and conferences such as Management Accounting Section Midyear Meeting American Accounting Association, Grudis Conferences, International Accounting and Auditing Congress, and International Meeting of the Asociación Española de Contabilidad y Administración. At ISEG, Sofia was an associate director of the MBA program, a member of the Scientific and Executive Board of the Master in Management, and a member of the Coordination Commission of the Sports Management Bachelor, a partnership ISEG-FMH. Before starting her academic career, Sofia worked in management consulting at Accenture.
