He is an Associate Professor at the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies and a Collaborating Researcher at CEsA - Universidade de Lisboa. He holds a PhD in Economics with a specialization in Tourism from ISEG (Universidade de Lisboa). He has published several books: from Statistics, Scientific Methodology and issues related to the process of Sustainable Development of small island economies. He has participated assiduously in several scientific events (seminars and conferences) abroad and in Portugal, mainly related to the Economy, Marketing and Tourism. Has scientific competences especially in the area of Economy and in the area of Tourism. He teaches several curricular units in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles. He has coordinated numerous master's and doctoral dissertations in public and private universities. He has been invited by the main institutions of university education to be an arguer of dissertations and theses. He has participated in international research projects by CEsA and other institutions in Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Czech Republic and Cape Verde. In scientific terms it has dozens of international and national articles published abroad in renowned scientific journals, especially in the areas of Marketing and Sustainable Development of Tourism and the effects of Tourism on the Economy as a Development tool. In parallel, he is an international consultant and has participated in several projects for the Government of Cape-Verde and in the study of the location of the new airport in Lisbon, among many others.
