On Friday, March 22, 2019, at 6:00 pm (Amphitheater 1, ISEG’s Quelhas Building), CEsA invites Professor António Almeida Serra (CEsA / CSG, ISEG-Ulisboa), an expert in Asia-Pacific Economics (East Timor, China, India and Southeast Asia) to talk about East Timor from the perspective of Development Studies.
Given the proximity to the 18th celebration of the “restoration of independence” in Timor, which will take place on May 20, this seminar proposes to address the issues: Is East Timor (and how?) another country case who suffers from ‘Dutch disease’ even though it has its own characteristics? Has the oil wealth ‘clouded’ economic reasoning leading to an option for ‘growth’ rather than ‘development’?
The seminar is free entry. To attend, perform your register.
