The history of the Atlantic broke with the frontiers of historiography of the nation-state, propitiating the comparability of long duration processes. It is necessary to address new themes and a polycentric approach so to stimulate these studies. The processes originated in the Atlantic tended to be analyzed as interactions between people, societies, institutions and economies in an interconnected world. Along with the size of the circulation, attention should be given to the production, transformation and consumption of goods. That is why the history of the Atlantic continues to prove to be useful for the analysis of regional and global transformations.
Thus, we appeal to all historians to present and debate their research on the Atlantic Conference by submitting proposals for communication panels or individual communications. As usual, the APHES Conference is receiving to the submission of proposals on any topic in the field of economic and social history.
Only will be accepted one communication per person. The proposals should be accompanied by an abstract of 400-500 words, mentioning the subject, objectives, theoretical approach, empirical support and 4 keywords. They should also include a brief CV of the author, with a maximum of 1 page. Proposals for thematic panels should include 3 communications and a moderator/commentator.
The deadline for submission of proposals is 30 May 2017, and these should be sent to: aphes37@mail.uma.pt. Disclosure of accepted communications will be made by June 5, 2017 and the full text must be submitted by October 15, 2017.
