Next 9th of March of 2018 will take place the presentation of the “Portrait of the Foundation” Francisco Manuel dos Santos, named “Com a devida Vénia – Diários dos Tribunais”, with the presence of the authors Daniel Seabra Lopes (SOCIUS/CSG/ISEG) and Ricardo Gomes Moreira, and also the lawyer Francisco Teixeira da Mota. The moderation will be assured by the writer and journalist Rui Cardoso Martins.
Much is discussed and commented on what goes on in the Portuguese courts. In the media and in our homes, there is no one who has nothing to say about the functioning of justice. But we really know what goes on inside a court? For six months, following the daily routine of the family and juvenile court and the criminal court in Lisbon, we entered the courtrooms, heard cases and lawyers, saw judges and magistrates, heard defendants and witnesses, sat down in the first queue and watch everything without restriction. More than a trip through the interior of two courts of first instance in Lisbon, this is the portrait that makes us rethink the way we look and judge the largest stage of justice in Portugal.
